New Judging Panel to Decide Fate of Dad Jokes at 2024 Dad Relays
Haddon Heights, NJ – In a humorous twist to the competitive spirit of the Dad Relays, the event committee has announced a new judging format for this year’s Dad Joke segment. The jokes, a highlight of the festivities, will now be evaluated by a diverse panel consisting of an "experienced dad," a non-dad, and a mom, aiming to bring a well-rounded perspective to the punchlines.
This decision comes after feedback from last year's participants who suggested that a varied panel might better appreciate the wide range of dad humor. John Carsia, a popular contender from the previous year, expressed his approval of the change. "I felt a bit robbed last year, to be honest. There was a tech glitch, and I think some kids might have boosted the scores from their dad's phones," he remarked, hinting at fellow competitor Roman’s surprising win. "This new system will make sure everyone’s on a level playing field."
Roman, last year's Dad Jokes champion, shared a less enthusiastic view on the updated judging criteria. "It seems like the committee is giving in to a bit of pressure from John, but hey, I’m here to make people laugh, not just the judges. I'm not scared of a little fair competition," he commented, confidently preparing his set for this year's challenge.
With the new panel in place, the Dad Jokes competition is expected to be more engaging and unpredictable, ensuring that the best dad humor shines through, free from any technical mishaps or familial biases. Get ready to groan and giggle as the dads bring their A-game to the mic at this year’s Dad Relays!
